Aural Assault Posted by: BlikeNave

Coltrane Progression and Inversions Posted by: BlikeNave
Video duration: 175 seconds Playing around with the Coltrane progression and slapping some inversions on top. Chords are: C, then II V I of Ab, then II V I of E, then II V I of Ab again, the V of C and that's it! The inversions are all mainly second and third inversions. There's one cool quartal stack chord in there on one of the minor chords. Fun stuff! "Space" Jazz Metal (5) Posted by: BlikeNave
Video duration: 122 seconds This song was inspired by the chorus of "Houdini" by Foster the People. That catchy melody can be heard here. http://www.youtub e.com/watch?v=sEVa3j AaweE Quick improv over a spacey backing track. Jazz voiced chords in the key of C minor, and I'm mainly playing Eb Major, Ab major and C minor scales over it. The low bass is inspired by dubstep music. Jazz Chords with Walking Bass Posted by: BlikeNave
Video duration: 56 seconds Ask me questions if you have them! This is just two I VI II V chord progressions in two keys. Some substitutions thrown on there. I get to the next notes by going down the arpeggio notes, sometimes using scale ideas and of course chromatic passing tones. These ideas were learned from Andrew Wasson. Jazz Metal (2) Posted by: BlikeNave

Giggin' it in D Posted by: BlikeNave
Video duration: 129 seconds Trying to be (a little) more careful with my selection of notes, opposed to my typical noodling up and down the scales 100% of the time :] Related: guitar, melody, six, string, sweep, major, 7th, minor, jazz, metal, fusion Display Video Comments | Hide Video Comments | Add Comment |

Nothing unusual Posted by: BlikeNave
Video duration: 96 seconds This is a fragment of a song that I'm working on with a friend. You will hear harmonic minor, diminished, and major scales in this song, as well as a little byzantine. When the drums cut out it's just improv. Related: guitar, arpeggios, harmonic, minor, major, seventh, byzantine Display Video Comments | Hide Video Comments | Add Comment |

Noodling in symmetrical scales with fixed harmonies Posted by: BlikeNave
Video duration: 129 seconds Playing the diminished scale with the harmony three notes up from whatever note I'm on, and then the whole tone scale with the harmony up four notes (two scale degrees in the whole tone scale). My next guitar pedal is going to be a harmonizer for sure! Related: diminished, whole, tone, scale, sweep, arpeggios, harmony Display Video Comments | Hide Video Comments | Add Comment |

Canon arpeggios- Sweeps + tapping Posted by: BlikeNave

Diminished + Chromatic Posted by: BlikeNave
Video duration: 79 seconds Written by one of my favorite guitarists Jeff Loomis. Diminished riff w/ chromatics sprinkled throughout, then the riff repeats a half step down. Lol sorry about how sloppy it is (especially the final measure haha god damn- missed like 7 notes), but the harmonies still sound cool. Me and my friend jammin' Posted by: BlikeNave
Video duration: 472 seconds My friend is on the drum machine. We were trying to play sporadic and random music with tempo changes and stuff like that. It's kinda strange in some parts. At times I completely jump out of scales, practically swimming in accidentals haha. Totally on the spot. It also also cuts off abruptly because the camera died lol. Circus... your words wash over me like a warm wave of encouragement :D Thank you for the kindness. The Jazz Metal series are my main focus and I am always working on new ones. I'm doing collaborations right now too with a great drummer, so the tracks are likely get a little more variety in the percussion sections. This? account started off as a personal music-journal of my progress, but now it's becoming a host for my own creations. I'm glad you found me and enjoy the sounds :] Thanks again ;D
