there's nothing natural about what they're doing. they are literally infecting the cells in order to penetrate the cellular wall. plants don't do that to one another. nature doesn't find a way to fuse tomatoes and fish, or man-made chemicals (Bt, rBGH, etc.) with our natural elements, such as animals and plants. no. i understand what you're saying. and, there are two things that are most often brought up in the case of GMOs: "fearmonger" and "GMO is just like the natural thing". Both of which are entirely wrong. Studies have shown that there are some serious adverse side effects to consuming GMO goods. Also, regardless of what affects is has on consumers, its contaminating our crops. Also, what they are doing is NOT naturally done in nature. Unless it is intending to kill or destroy? the cell.

no. genetically modified organisms are not natural breeding or selection. ? the things that they're fusing into the genes would and could never be introduced into the gene without force. they aren't trying to introduce a strong variety of apple to another apple. they are fusing chemicals, pesticides, insecticides, bacteria and viruses into the cell. they are fusing two very different species (tomato and fish, for example). they are not breeders.

The FDA officially? does not have to regulate Monsanto and their biotech inventions. So, it is a challenge to find peer-reviewed studies in the U.S. I recommend looking into other countries' research. The World According to Monsanto, a documentary, is extremely informative. As well as the Institute for Responsible Technology's website. They have some documented studies up there. In addition, farmers and people occupying property near GMO fields have reported serious physical issues.

i think you should look into gmos a bit further. genetically engineering, or GMOs, are not naturally evolved. They are constructed of foreign cells being implanted into the cell of another. this does not happen in nature, unless its? a bacteria or virus. nature doesn't allow most things to penetrate the cellular structure, otherwise ANYTHING could get into a cell, and this planet would've been dead before it started.

It's pretty simple. If you have no problem eating GMO foods, go for it. Those of us who don't want to eat food that has? been tampered with by Monsanto won't. This is all about putting labeling on products so people can make up their own minds. Of course companies don't want their products to be labeled as GMO. They believe that the average consumer will opt for a different product because "genetically modified" sounds scary. That ought to tell you something right there.

No, Monsanto says there is "no need" to conduct human experiments. Truth is more likely that they wouldn't be able to get enough humans willing to eat GMOs. Most eat them because they know nothing about them, I didn't even know they existed until recently. The only thing they have tested is to see if it still has nutrients in it, like fiber? etc.

Im not exactly sure. Im 15 and with school I don't have an adequate amount of time to study gmos. But from my understanding, and I could be wrong, and? bacteria dna is injected into the cell. There it binds with the corn, soy, etc. If you really get into the technicalities of it, it sounds like a sophisticated scientific process. When in reality the dna can go anywhere within the cell and cause various genetic mutations that could potentially cause disease and other health problems down the road.

Umm, Genetically modified means to GENETICALLY alter the genes of the plant in a lab. And organic farming also means that the farmer will try as best they can to keep? their plants from cross-pollinating with their neighbors' GM fields. That is simply a lie, and you don't even know what GM means. We have "genetically modified" food ever since we started to farm it by picking the plants with the? most fruit and using those seeds. Also Organic farming is not the opposite of GM farming. The crops used in organic farming often times have been "Modified" to provide more products, all organic means is that they did not use pesticides.

I couldn't agree more. Not only do they feel it's more productive? to keep people on food stamps, but having people grow their own food would shut down big agri-business companies like Monsanto. In the last 20 years the city has torn down at least 500 houses? here. People lost their homes to taxes and there are no jobs here becus of labor laws and taxes... So many vacant lots... If only they instituted some kind of local farming plan were people could utilize that vacant land to grow food for use and sale at local stores and farmers markets, give to the needy. We can't have that though. Much more productive to have people on food stamps.

You hear about lady who got ticketed for putting a raised garden bed in her front yard? That was a shame. :( Agree with you that people should be encouraged to garden and grow some of their own food instead? of spending time/gas maintaining worthless grass. Here... $200 fine (no warning) if your grass is over 5" A lawn is nice for some areas like in child play areas but beyond that it's a waste/pain. I only have a little land but I'm trying to grow and hope more people start.
