well when im not using? my big quanities i store them in my trapping freezer and they preserve so you can use them for years to come if you make alot, the oil will last longer and keep its strong smell if its kept in a cool dark place, try to keep out of sunlight.

panfish will work yes but you wil not get as much oil? as a carp or a sucker.

the fish? oil is spose to smell terribly horrid, maggots can ruin the good oil but you can still use it, its just not as good quality, filter it, it depends on the kind of jug you use to put them in too, i found that windshield washer fluid jugs seem to work the best to keep them out, also put a wash cloth over top of the hole before you screw the cap on that will help to keep them out if your using a container they can get into. any more questions ask away i can explain better.

Okay, so I was trying to make this and did like you instructed except I used bluegill instead of carp and some flies got into it somehow and laid a bunch of maggots and now it smells extremely terrible. Now as a question, is this a normal thing? If it is, do I just need to filter it? through some cheesecloth to get the maggots out? If this isn't suppose to happen, what did I do wrong? Thanks

catfish will work, and yes panfish will work too but with panfish you wont get nearly as much oil as you will trout, carp, or suckers. Any fish will work but you want a fatty fish if your looking for big quanities of fish oil, i also sell the oil for cheaper than anyone does on ebay?? if your interested.
