I've never done this exercise? before, kinda scared of trying it. Would this be good for beginners?
By: mikeyp916. on 07 Apr 12, 17:50:36
I disagree with this "exercise physiologist" because the barbell is row and the bench press are THE EXACT SAME MOVEMENT just with an opposite direction of resistance. I would actually recommend the same width grip as? the bench press because it will increase more by using the same grip.
By: mikeyp916. on 07 Apr 12, 17:48:27
This video demonstrates fairly poor form for a barbell row. A row is best performed when each rep starts on the floor, using an overhand/hook grip, and with the same width grip as used in the bench press. This allows for more explosive moments (since the weight is on the floor) which in turn allows more weight to be lifted.? And by mimicking the grip on your bench press, your bench press will also go up from doing rows.

DO? A BARREL ROLL
By: SuperChamona. on 17 Feb 12, 03:58:12
the best way for me to feel the squeeze and the burn is to bend over as little as possible, my torso almost up straight, have a big chest, very arched back and pull pull the barbell towards your crotch,? and squeezing your shoulder blades together. you feel it mostly in the center of your back
By: rightwing8877. on 12 Feb 12, 13:34:50
Best instructive video? I have ever come across. Thanks
By: BennyDubstep. on 08 Feb 12, 21:39:17
The? most important thing: you should only feel this in your back.
By: pdxjose6. on 03 Feb 12, 19:12:14
I like to alternate my grip sometimes or just expierement with both palms up and palms down.... so whatever? rattles your cage I say go with it!
By: aubergine4444. on 31 Jan 12, 10:47:32
I'm a Personal Trainer in the U.K. This I would say, is probably? the best instructive video for this excellent exercise. Very well done.

I youtube'd SL 5x5 and found this video.? Great quality and great instruction. Great job!
By: kibetsu. on 12 Jan 12, 23:03:47
They do train your back just a bit diffrently. Check exrx.net barbell row theres quite nice explanation for different grips?
By: kibetsu. on 12 Jan 12, 23:01:40
Theres no single "correct" way its what muscle people target and their personal preference. Check exrx.net/WeightExercises/BackGeneral/BBBentOverRow.html for? how diffrent grips wide, narrow, underhand, overhand affect.
By: cheater456. on 08 Jan 12, 15:19:10
CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG, but this is yates rows isn't? it? Barbell rows is when your palms are facing the other way. From the stuff i've read, yates rows don't train your back.
By: peterwyattmiddleton. on 03 Jan 12, 22:39:27
It also good to think? of the barbell row as an opposite bench press
By: billt0626. on 09 Dec 11, 18:04:44
You? are supposed to do 5 sets of 5
By: BMunich16. on 28 Nov 11, 03:48:45
Facing overhand, you? work your back and some biceps. Underhand, it puts more emphasis on your biceps and less on your back. Overhand is generally more common.
By: multamp. on 15 Nov 11, 03:49:15
should your palms be facing front? or towards you?
By: roflex2. on 05 Nov 11, 07:44:17
@bigmac638 Because you can very easily get it wrong? and there are many things you need to know.
By: roflex2. on 05 Nov 11, 07:43:34
It also puts your bicep in an at risk position, if you are lifting a very heavy weight you are more likely to injur your bicep. I personally use this position as it is more comfortable, but I think the bicep injury is far more likely? than the elbow on.
By: MrMaxABuck. on 05 Nov 11, 03:18:34
I always use? an over-hand grip. I may try alternating grips now and see what difference, if any, that makes.
By: Th3FinishingT0uch. on 09 Oct 11, 23:00:08
There is a bit of ambiguity surrounding the grip; I would've gone? for the over-hand grip by default, I'll try both in the gym tomorrow and see which works best.
By: Th3FinishingT0uch. on 09 Oct 11, 22:58:42
Great vid, thanks :D?
By: danielleece. on 31 Aug 11, 05:15:29
quite the opposite. the wider you have your grip the less the lats are able to activate. this will involve more middle trap than lats. try? it, you won't be able to lift as much due to your lats not being used to their full potential.
