You thought that was a long tool change? Damn, that's quick where I work. We have this one machine in the shop, tool change: 22 seconds chip to chip. Some time could be save precalling the tool up in "holding area" but if something goes wrong you might be left what tool is in there. It's not the carousel nor the spindle. Changer fucks? up often. Then robotic m-codes are needed to put it back. pain in the ass. So yeah long change. I technically have enough time to check a dimension occasionally.

it's not the systems but one of many other factors. Hard to show the viewer what's going on when coolant is being blasted on the cutter. Some tools work better without coolant, they like and need the heat to perform at their best, and some materials cut better with a blast of air as the cooling/chip flushing aspect. Tapping? a hole dry is bad news IMO. What stood out to me was the painfully long tool changes.

How come there is no coolant involved ? Does that have something to do with the thermal properties of Brass ?? I would imaging that the heat generated would significantly reduce the life of the? cutter head ??? Would love to know the answer !

sir, it is good. But naturally the product? you make is increasing cost due to high time consume by machine in engraving and making oval shape. It is ok for making samples but for large production some other methods and machine can save time and cost for same product.

A lot of proponents of linear? guides tend to poo-poo the idea of traditional box ways. But for heavy milling they work great, and they are a very cost effective way to make a strong machine.
