Some people look good some not so good, and they know it. I dont see the problem with photoshopping portraits, it makes the picture look better and we all know it. I doubt very much this is the first comment to mention it; nonetheless my own 2¢ worth is that in several cases, the example seems to illustrate the technique's failure. Certainly it's a matter of individual? taste (in itself an element of uncertainty, individual taste>impossible to factor in perfectly>a sliver of hope?). So failure, I'm heartened. Best example, the results of "improving" an already appealing little boy: the features eerily transformed, appearing somehow cold, even vaguely alien.

Photoshop CS5 seems to be the popular choice for post production. With portraiture I can see why it could be needed but with my other pics I like to do very little post production work. Conputer programs can make a great photo into an amazing photo but I like my pics to be as "real" as? possible. Just knowing your camera and learning about photography is as far as I like to take it. Seeing how my shots look without post production is very rewarding. Karl is awesome.....taught me heaps!

So Larry Becker, the Executive of NAPP (Photoshop) is wrong for telling people? he uses a plug it to retouch portraits and he is wrong for putting out a casting call for models claiming he is putting them in a magazine. You must be crazy and your advice is horrible. Real retouches do NOT? use plug ins, unless they made them specifically for themselves. This woman has an award winning retouching DVD and probably has retouched some of those MAXIM covers you speak of, so please do not advise her. Also, glamour(MAXIM) retouching is different from beauty retouching, so of course they are not worried about pores on a full body image on a 8x11 page.

Then there is Bob Ross who takes a half hour to paint a picture. They both make money and they're both art. There just isn't one way to do things. What she spends hours doing can be done in minutes with a plug in. No big deal. Some people sit on a couch while others have their couches covered in plastic all the time. Enjoy yourself . This is really good but seriously way too much OCD'ing. I have seen images in the best magazines and none of them seem to be worried about how many pores are on a face and even Maxim recent cover proves that you do need to be extreme anymore. Use a quick plug in like Portrature and the heal brush and you will be on the level of most great retouchers. They? use it too but they just won't admit it. Trust me even Julia Child and Wolfgang Puck goes to KFC once in a while.

Since your shaft and ends are already pre-lightened, you'd be good with a watered down 20, or even 10 volume so that you're not? overprocessing. The 30 could be used for your roots, which are dark.

no lifting does not always? mean bleaching. when you color your hair a lighter color than your natural hair thats lifting b/c you are lifting your natural hair color. bleaching is striping your natural color out and normally leaving it very porus and weak. i keep my hair moisturized and use protein treatments to make sure my hair stays healthy. some peoples hair is more sensitive so everyone can't handle color. but every needs protein treatments with color to keep it healthy

- if you have CS5,? I assume you mean you have Photoshop CS5. This particular retouch is done in Lightroom 3. If you wanted to use Photoshop CS5 you would actually open the image inside Adobe Camera Raw (ACR). You would find the Basic Panel there as it does not exist inside of Photoshop.

I know this is the way? people are Photoshopped for magazines and the like, but I think the extreme that it is taken to makes people look like aliens, and gives people an unrealistic and sometimes oddly disturbing view of what beautiful is. I think people can be made to look more appealing, or more interesting using this software without completely distorting who they are, or creating an image that isn't even close to reality. This is why I downvoted the video, though you are quite skilled.

Thats not what im saying. You are correct that once the images are merged you can edit undo or step back early on but what Im saying is once you merge your images and start working on the project further there will be a point were you wont be able to edit undo or step back to un? merge the images. Non destructive image editing means you can go to any point in the project at anytime and the integrity of the original is still in tact. Being able to edit undo something doesnt make it non destructive

There is actually a way to be non-destructive with merging. You select all of them and put them in a new layer, and you will have duplicates of all of them, then just keep? them highlighted, right-click, and select Merge Layers. Then just hide the originals and continue. This way you can go back and tweek things if you need to!
