I have been traveling 5 years on business, and I have only seen this happen one time. The time it did happen, the passenger was told to sit down and buckle his belt. The captain was notified and the plane was stopped, the tower was called, and the plane did not move again until he was in his seat and buckled in. The plane was still? moving in route to the gate when it happened. There is a huge risk for the airline, huge fines from the FAA for allowing this to happen. They won't risk it.

my question is why did the government have to pay 42 m to relocate the people,..should that? not have come from the coal company itself seeing as it was their coal mines that did the harm to the area? or did they just pocket the money and split town after perhaps collecting insurance on whatever they could?

How long does a smoldering coal mine smolder before it flashes and turns into a raging coal mine fire? What is Pennsylvania doing about all these toxic airborne gases? How is the East Coast being affected by these pollutants? What's the EPA doing about this? Why was digging up the burning coal fire ruled out? How? much foam/water would have to be pumped in to put it out? Would this wreck the underground water aquifers? What's the smoldering coal mine doing to the acquifers? Is this now contained?
